Project of the week

Have we put up our Christmas tree? No. Have we even got down our boxes of ornaments? No. We have, at least, been able to put out our Advent candle and it has been lit a few times for the meals we have been able to share when we are not rushing somewhere.

What is the delay this year? It is our ceiling. Our lovely popcorn ceiling. We have been looking at it for a long time, saying "this has got to go!"

We started by talking about painting the walls in anticipation of some furniture we have ordered, first we decided that the popcorn must be removed. We always talk about what needs to be done, but getting around to it is another matter. Somehow, talking led to action this time and we have scraped almost all of the ceiling above our little kitchen eat-in area, and are moving into living room territory. Then we have to patch the gouges we've made, smooth everything over, then paint the ceiling, then paint the walls.

I will post a picture of our progress after I figure out how to do that.

The kids are wondering when the Christmas tree is going up. So am I!
