Creating a cottage home
I just love this book by Cynthia Overbeck Bix. I have read my share of dozens of cottage style books and ogled all sorts of photos, but this one is the cat's meow! It is full of all sorts of inspirational photos and descriptions. They say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but it is the cover that grabbed me. These are my favorite colors, the inspiration for my home. Warm, happy colors; visually interesting, texturally interesting. I am hoping I can pull this off, even though it is taking me a while!
So far, we have finished cleaning up our beam and are preparing the ceiling for receiving the "Venetian plaster" that we decided on. Then we will paint; I am a little nervous about the color we have chosen. American Traditions Blanched Thyme. It is a little on the dark side, but I hope when it gets up on the walls, we can get a true picture of how it looks and decide whether we want to live with it or not.
On our weather front, I just wanted to share that has been snowing here today. Who would believe we were in the Seattle area? We have had more snow days here this year than I can ever remember. It is kinda crazy. It is nothing like they get in the midwest or the east coast, but is a novelty for us.
